L: How long have you been with the company?
C: 3 Years in August
L: What does your job entail?
C: As a commercial estimator, my job entails providing estimates for the cost of materials and labor to complete construction projects. I work closely with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure that all costs are accurately calculated while also taking into account potential risks or changes in design that could affect the overall budget. My role also involves tracking the progress of projects during construction and making recommendations for budget adjustments as needed.
L: Who inspired you to pursue the career you have today?
C: Back when I was a child, my mom worked at a local Krystal’s. One day, while I was waiting for her to get off, I happened to notice this really cool bread truck in the parking lot loaded down with every kind of part imaginable. The driver, Cliff, was an older gentleman, and he was a regular to the location. I remember to this day the blue jumpsuit that he wore and was excited to ask what he did for a living. Instead of telling me, he asked me to help him. I was 13 at the time, and my mom agreed to let me help. I sat up in the front seat of this big truck and helped him for the day. From that moment, I knew that this was what I wanted to do with my life.
